ГЭМИЛЬТОН

(Hamilton), Джемс Александр, род. 1775 в Лондоне, ум. 2 авг. 1845; сын антиквария, отличный англ. теоретик, сочинения коего выдержали много изданий: Написал: "Modern instruction for the piano-forte"; "Catechism of singing"; "Catechism of the organ"; "Catechism of the rudiments of harmony and thorough-bass"; "Catechism of counterpoint, melody and composition"; "Catechism of double counterpoint and fugue"; "Catechism on the art of writing for an orchestra and of playing from score" (инструментовка и игра с партитуры); "Catechism on the nature, invention, exposition, development and concatenation of musical ideas"; "A new theoretical musical grammar"; "Dictionary comprising an explication of 3500 italian, french etc. terms" (2-e изд. вместе с "Diffinitorium" Тинкториса в виде приложения издано Бишопом, 3-е изд. 1848).
